A little from the book

I didn’t expect to cry. I told myself I’d just visit, sit quietly, and slip out after service.

But when Pastor Bill stepped off the pulpit, came down the aisle, stopped at my row, looked me straight in the eyes, and said…

“I don’t know… I don’t know why I wanna say this to you. Imma just say what I want to say… Welcome home.”

I broke.

Something opened in my chest that I hadn’t known was closed. The tears came before I could stop them. The kind that don’t ask permission, the kind that tell you something true is happening.

I didn’t know the woman rubbing my back, but I knew her touch was kindness. The unhurried kind. The kind that doesn’t need to know your story to show up for you.

God was calling me home. Not just to a church, but to myself.

What it’s about

A story about identity, wholeness, and finding your way home.

The Making of Me is my story. From the things that formed me early in life, to the choices I made as an adult, to eventually finding my way back to God and learning that the things that shaped you don’t have to define you forever.

This book is for anyone who has ever looked at their life and wondered, How did I get here? Or wondered if too much time has passed, too much has happened, or they’ve gone too far to begin again. My hope is that you come away believing that it is never too late to come home, and becoming whole is still possible.

This isn’t a book about condemnation, and it isn’t a five-step formula for changing your life. It’s a testimony. Mine. I don’t have all the answers. I just know what happened when I finally let God into the places I had spent years trying to figure out on my own.

The imprint

Stand in Christ Publishing

Stand in Christ Publishing exists because there is a shortage of Christian books that tell the truth about the middle of the story. The part after the breakthrough and before the victory lap.

The Making of Me is our first title.
